The Miami Trace volleyball team took another step forward Thursday night in an SCOL victory over visiting Clinton-Massie.
Miami Trace won the match, 25-23, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-16.
“For our kids, it was just putting an entire match together where we stayed in the system,” Miami Trace head coach Doug Mace said. “We had a couple of little, questionable things out there, but, for the most part, we finally played a whole match like we train in practice.
“That was a big step for us tonight,” Mace said. “That’s the first time we put it all together, completely, for an entire match. We’ve shown glimpses of it in the past, maybe for a game, or half a game.
“We knew it would be a good match,” Mace said. “Clinton-Massie has a nice team. They’re a young team, but, they’re a nice team. That was a really good win for us. We took one of those steps that we needed to take, where it’s like, hey, ‘trust in our team concept, trust in our teammates’ and we had some good results with that.”
Miami Trace is now 3-2 in the SCOL, 3-6 overall.
The Lady Panthers will play at Washington High School Tuesday for the Volley For the Cure match against the Lady Blue Lions.
The j-v match starts at 5 p.m. with varsity to follow.
