The Washington seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams hosted East Clinton Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Washington won both matches.

The seventh grade won with the scores of 25-18, 28-26.

The eighth grade won in three sets, 20-25, 25-19 and 25-10,.

“The girls really came together as a team tonight and fought for every point,” Washington coach Torie Klaiber said. “They served really well tonight, especially Emma Funari who led the team in aces.”

“Losing the first set and coming back to win the whole game is a hard thing to do, especially with such a small and young team,” Washington coach Aubrey Kiger said. “We are only a seven girl team so they are forced to play with no breaks. They came together and got the job done and I couldn’t be more proud.”

Washington will host Hillsboro today with the seventh grade going first at 5 p.m. and the eighth grade match to follow.
