Man hit by train

A man on a bicycle was hit by a train at around 11:30 a.m. today on the Pearl Street railroad in Washington C.H., according to authorities.

“Witnesses say that he was riding his bike northbound on Pearl and went across the track trying to beat the slow-moving train,” said Washington Police Department Lt. Jon Long. “The locomotive struck the bicycle.”

The man, identified as Ronald C. Leisure, 52, of 508 Western Ave., suffered visible injuries and is expected to be flown to a Columbus-area hospital for treatment. Personnel from the train were at the scene discussing the incident with police officers.
