Tuesday at the fair

The 2015 Fayette County Fair continues today with many attractions the whole family can enjoy.

Today is Senior Day and all senior citizens can get into the fairgrounds for free.

The Junior Fair will once again be busy showing projects at the many barns and buildings on the fairgrounds. Beginning at 8 a.m., the junior fair dairy goat show and showmanship will be held at the sales arena followed by the boer goat show and showmanship. At 8:30 a.m., the rabbit meat pen show will commence at the small animal arena and at 9 a.m., the horse show will happen at the horse arena. The morning will close with the rabbit breed show at 10 a.m. at the small animal arena.

Picking up after lunch, at 1 p.m. the junior fair swine breeding show will be held at the swine arena. Both the beef feeder show and showmanship, beginning at 3 p.m. at the sales arena, and the swine showmanship at the swine arena at 4 p.m. will finish out the afternoon.

Finally, the junior fair market beef show and showmanship will be held at 6:30 p.m. and the 7 p.m. The talent show at the activity tent will end the day for the junior fair.

Additionally, Smash It Demolition Derby will return for the Fayette County Fair Demolition Derby, which begins at 7 p.m. at the McDonald’s Grandstand. With just a few classes, nearly $3,000 will be given to winning drivers, with the Smash It Class paying $1,500 to the top driver. As always, daily after 1 p.m., rides from Amusements of America, as well as the Jungle Island Zoo Exotic Encounters, will be available for patrons to enjoy.
