The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following, according to reports:

JULY 3

TRAFFIC CRASH: Herbert Eades, London, was Westbound on US Rte 35 near the Palmer Road exit, he was rear ended by another vehicle driven by Chystal Havens, Xenia, causing damage to both vehicles. Mr. Eades stated the vehicle that struck him continued traveling Westbound. No injuries were reported.

THEFT: Cassie Allbright Greenfield, reported a maroon truck pulled up to one of their gas pumps got $5.02 worth of gasoline then left without paying.

THEFT: John Larson, Sebring Fla., reported while parked on the lot of the Hampton Inn unknown person(s) stole his U-Haul trailer.

THEFT: Harry Buly, New Castle Penn., reported while parked on the lot of the Hampton Inn unknown person(s) stole his international trailer.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Mutinda Mumo, Louisville Ky., was attempting to make a right hand turn onto the Interstate 71 Southbound ramp from SR 41 North when he went off the left side of the roadway striking a drainage ditch then striking another ditch before coming to rest. The vehicle was damaged however Mumo was not injured. Mumo was cited for failure to control.

FOUND PROPERTY: Deputies were able to locate a small safe and a remote laying in a field on Dickey Rd near US Rte 62 North. Both items were placed in to evidence as safekeeing.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Jase A. Knisley of Lynchburg was stopped at the U.S. Rte 35 exit ramp and SR 41 South when Knisley was struck in the rear by another vehicle operated by Jeffrey C. Harmison of Washington C.H. Harmison failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead. The vehicles suffered very minor damage. No injuries were reported. Harmison was cited for ACDA.

CRIMINAL DAMAGING: An employee of Prism Fireworks reported damage to the business’s entry door.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Maria Evans, Hillsboro, was Southbound on the US 35 Westbound access Rd near US Rte 62 she was rear ended by another vehicle operated by Thaddeus Johnson, Washington C.H. while stopped in traffic. No injuries were reported. The accident is still under investigation.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT BY INTOXICATION: Deputies responded to a reported disturbance in Bookwalter. Upon arriving they found Donald Bennett, Jeffersonville to be highly intoxicated and unable to care for himself. Bennett was arrested and transported to the Fayette Co. Jail on this charge.

BREAKING AND ENTERING/CRIMINAL DAMAGING: On site security officer at Phantom Fireworks, Bloomingburg reported finding two subjects attempting to break into a storage trailer. These subjects fled the scene and were not located. Damage to the perimeter fence and trailer door was observed.

JULY 2

TRAFFIC CRASH: Jotkrikan Rewari, Williamsville, N.Y. was southbound on I-71 near the 71mm, when he failed to observe another vehicle in front of him, driven by Donna McGroder, Highland Mills, N.Y. had slowed down. Rewari’s vehicle struck the rear of McGroder’s vehicle. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. Rewari was cited for failure to Maintain Assured Clear Distance Ahead.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Todd Evans, Washington C.H. reported overnight person(s) unknown damaged his mailbox.

DRUG ABUSE/POSSESSION OF DANGEROUS DRUG: Deputies and EMS responded to a residence on Peddicord Ave. on a report of a male unresponsive and not breathing. Upon arriving at the scene the victim was conscious. Upon questioning he admitted to using heroin and several hypodermic syringes were located nearby.

THEFT/BREAKING AND ENTERING: William Fannin, Washington C.H. reported overnight person(s) unknown removed property from his farm.

THEFT OF DANGEROUS DRUG: Linda Burris of Jeffersonville reports person(s) unknown removed prescription medication from her residence.
