WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE — Authorities are investigating a possible arson that occurred Sunday night at an unoccupied house on Flint Drive.

At approximately 8:44 p.m. Sunday, the Washington Police Department responded with the Washington Court House Fire Department to 519 Flint Drive for a reported structure fire. Once they arrived, officers reportedly found the back of the house engulfed in flames.

The home was found to be unoccupied and the fire was extinguished without incident. While on scene, officers found evidence that suggested the fire may have been set intentionally, police said.

Neighbors also reported hearing “some sort of explosion” before seeing flames coming from the back of the house.

A report for fourth-degree felony arson was taken and the incident has been assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit for further investigation.
