The New Holland Lions Club held its annual Christmas meeting at the Hong Kong Buffet Thursday evening.

Lion president Marty Mace opened the meeting at 6 p.m. and welcomed special guest, cabinet secretary/treasurer Lion Jay Carey of the Washington C.H. Lions Club, the members of our club and guests and led us in the singing of Jingle Bells. Each one had received two Christmas word search puzzles, from Lion secretary Paul Edgington on arrival, to work on and take home to finish. Most people present enjoyed the delicious buffet while others ordered from the menu.

Following dinner members and guests, total of 25 present, introduced themselves. Lion Marty then turned the meeting over to CST Lion Jay for the induction of four new members. CST Jay gave a brief history of Lions Clubs International, including the fact Lions International is the largest service organization in the world, with their emphasis being on preventing blindness and sight saving, which Lions were asked to take on by Helen Keller at the International Convention near Upper Sandusky in 1920.

After each new member repeated the Lion Pledge, CST Jay presented Jonathan Reed, John Roberts, Clinton Jay Ward and Patricia Ward with their official New Membership Certificates. Sponsor Lion Marty Mace then presented Lion Jonathan and Lion John with their membership cards and placed their membership pin on them, and Sponsor Lion Carol Bliss presented Lion Jay and Lion Patricia with their membership cards and lapel pins.

The following members were then presented certificates and lapel pens with bars for their years of service in Lionism: Lion Paul Meadows, 40 years; Lion Don Davis, 45 years; Lion Howard Morris, 10 years; and Lion Mike Provost, 10 years. A certificate and pin for Lion Ross Davis, 10 Years was taken by his dad, Don.

We spent the rest of the evening playing S N O W Y bingo with prizes furnished by Lion Marty and his wife Linda, Lion Mike Provost and Lion Ivy Walters and finished up by singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Everyone had a very enjoyable evening.
