Miami Trace to host first Parent Tech Rally

Miami Trace is set to host its first-ever Parent Tech Rally at the high school commons on Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This open house is the perfect opportunity for all parents and guardians to get up to speed with some of the programs and platforms that keep them connected to their children’s learning at Miami Trace, according to school district administrators. Five stations will be available for guests to visit — covering topics related to Learning Management Systems, Communication Tools, Student Management Platforms, Parental Controls, and Device Monitoring/Assignment Applications.

Instructional technology director Amy Gustin explained, “At Miami Trace, we are fortunate to have learning management systems for students to access their online curriculum. These platforms can be unfamiliar to families and we want to make sure they are equipped to assist their students when necessary. We also employ various communication tools such as our newly released District Mobile App and Remind for text messaging from staff.”

“The district also employs various monitoring tools. These platforms assist in keeping our students safe online as well as accountable for their academic performance. In addition, we want to assist families with available resources outside of education to help keep their children digitally safe.”

Miami Trace’s computer technicians, along with several staff members, will be available to share tools and offer assistance to families as needed. Parents and guardians who visit all five stations at the open house will be eligible for one of 10 technology-inspired gifts donated by generous sponsors throughout the community. Prize drawings will be held live on Facebook on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 12 p.m.

Gustin goes on to add, “As part of our District’s Digital Wellness Plan, this event is just one of the ways to extend our digital communications and provide information regarding the digital resources available to families. Supporting families in this ever-changing digital world is now more important than ever to keep students digitally safe and healthy. We hope Miami Trace parents and guardians will take advantage of this opportunity to get better acquainted with the important programs and resources employed by the district.”
