GREENFIELD — On a beautiful spring evening, the Washington Lady Blue Lion softball team traveled down SR 41 to Greenfield for an SCOL match-up with the McClain High School Lady Tigers.
The game was scheduled to be played at Washington, but was moved to Mitchell Park in Greenfield so work could be done on Washington’s softball field.
(Washington will host McClain on Friday, April 28.)
McClain won the game, 16-6 in five innings.
Shrout was the winning pitcher for McClain. She pitched five innings with five hits and six runs (three earned). She walked six and struck out four.
Meghan Tucker pitched four innings for the Lady Lions. Seven defensive errors allowed for 11 runs being unearned. She walked two and had no strikeouts.
Tucker was Washington’s leading hitter, going 2 for 2 with one run scored.
Danika Marcum was 0 for 1 with two walks and two runs scored.
Trinity Ragland and Maddison Osborne each had one hit for Washington.
Landrum went 2 for 4 with four RBI and three runs scored for McClain. Beatty was 3 for 4 with two RBI and three runs scored.
McClain scored five in the first inning.
Washington rallied with four runs in the top of the second.
McClain scored seven in the second inning and added two in the third and two more in the fourth.
Washington scored one in the fourth and one in the fifth.
The Lady Lions are at Miami Trace Wednesday at 5 p.m.
That will be a Strikeout Cancer Game to help support Jenny and Sean Davis and their family.
