Local students receive degrees at Miami University spring commencement

Miami University awarded 3,683 degrees to students during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 13 in Yager Stadium.

Local students who received degrees are:

– Cheri Bailey of Washington C.H., master of education majoring in special education;

– Demetre Balahtsis of New Holland, bachelor of science in business majoring in finance; and

– Jimmy Free of Greenfield, bachelor of science majoring in geology.

Considered one of eight original “Public Ivies” in the country, Miami University is located in Oxford, Ohio. The university is consistently ranked by U.S. News and World Report for its commitment to undergraduate teaching and is the number one college town according to Forbes.

Students with more than one listing have earned additional degrees or honors.
