The Miami Trace girls tennis team played a match in Chillicothe Monday, Sept. 26 against Unioto and then hosted an SCOL match with Clinton-Massie Tuesday, Sept. 27.
On Monday, Miami Trace lost to Unioto, 4-1.
“We played with our Sectional line up to give it a little practice,” Miami Trace coach Kim Schirtzinger said.
At first singles, Jackie Wisecup played singles for the first time, taking on Sylvia Gray, the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Sectional. Gray won, 6-0, 6-0.
Schirtzinger had Haiven Pepper play second singles (her first time playing singles) and she defeated Neysea Edwards, 6-3, 6-1.
Kenzie Seyfang played third singles (also her first time playing singles). She lost that match, 3-6, 0-6.
The first doubles team for Sectionals was Bayley Thompson and Anita Pursell against Michelle Kerns and Emillie Simonsen. The Miami Trace duo lost the first set in a tie breaker 6-7 (3-7), and the second 2-6.
At second doubles, Kyleigh Slone and Cameron Bucher played Brianna McGuire and Macy Bridenbaugh, and they lost, 3-6, 1-6.

On Tuesday evening against Clinton-Massie Miami Trace had Bayley Thompson playing first singles against Hailey Clayborn with a loss of 2-6, 2-6.
At second singles, Anita Pursell lost to Anne Thompson, 1-6, 3-6.
Jackie Wisecup lost her third singles match to Morgan Edgar, 1-6, 6-7 (0-7).
At first doubles, Haiven Pepper and Cameron Bucher fell to Nina Lazie and Claire Corruthers, 0-6, 0-6.
Beth Hogsett and Kyleigh Slone lost to Amber Winemiller and Megan Wonderly at second doubles, 0-6, 6-0.
Miami Trace will play at Gardner Park against the Lady Lions of Washington at 4:30 p.m. today.
It will be Senior Day for Washington, so folks may want to arrive around 4 p.m. to be on hand for the ceremony.
