The Washington Lady Blue Lion tennis team won a 4-1 decision against Hillsboro in an SCOL match Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Gardner Park.
Washington improves to 12-2 overall, 8-2 in the SCOL.
At first singles, Megan Downing defeated Peyton Kidder in a close two-set match, 7-5, 7-5.
Anna Nestor won at second singles, 6-2, 6-0 over Erin Clark.
At third singles, Sydnie Hall defeated Breanne Fender in three sets, 6-3, 4-6 and 6-4.
At first doubles, Sierra Dawson and Maria Pickerill beat Jessica Moon and Abby Harmon, 6-1, 6-0.
At second doubles, Mackenzie Cress and Jen Richards lost to Samantha Stodgel and Morgan Kemper, 2-6, 7-5, 5-10. A super tiebreaker was used for the third set since the overall match had been decided, Washington coach Mitch Augenstein explained.
Washington’s j-v team went 2-0 to improve to 8-1 overall, 7-1 in the SCOL.
Beth Wilt defeated Cyrick Rickman, 8-0 and Gretchen Milstead and Brynne Frederick beat Julia Hart and Anna Rhinesheld, 8-0.
Washington is at Greeneview today and at home against Wilmington Monday at 4:30 p.m.
