Lady Lions shut-out East Clinton

On a beautiful late summer afternoon and evening, the Washington Lady Blue Lion tennis team hosted East Clinton at the courts at Gardner Park Thursday, Sept. 15.

Washington swept the match, 5-0, recording their seventh such win of the season.

The Lady Lions are now 11-2 overall.

At first singles, Megan Downing defeated Kyle Hidy, 6-2, 6-0.

At second singles, Anna Nestor beat Shelby Michael, 6-0, 6-0.

Sydnie Hall won the third singles match, 6-1, 6-1 over Bella Walters.

At first doubles, Sierra Dawson and Maria Pickerill defeated Haley Harrel and Sydney Michael, 6-0, 6-0.

Jen Richards and Mackenzie Cress beat Cassie Parks and Emily Tong in second doubles, 6-0, 6-2.

Washington’s Brynne Frederick beat East Clinton’s Hanne Rimestad in a j-v singles match, 8-1.

Washington also played three j-v inter-squad matches because East Clinton had just one j-v player.

Ashton Carr defeated Mailtyn Cave, 8-5; Camryn Waldrop beat Yui Kobayashi, 8-2 and Beth Wilt beat Payton Maddux, 8-1.

Washington will host Hillsboro Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
