Panther tennis falls to Hillsboro

On still another sizzling hot August afternoon, the Miami Trace Lady Panthers tennis team hosted Hillsboro for the second match on the new courts Tuesday, Aug. 30.

Hillsboro won the SCOL match, 4-1.

At first singles, Macy Detty lost to Peyton Kidder, 5-7, 1-6.

At second singles, Cassie VanDyke played Erin Clark and came back to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

“She had a great match after that first set,” Miami Trace coach Kim Schirtzinger said.

Bayley Thompson played Breanna Fender and lost at third singles, 0-6, 1-6.

At first doubles, Anita Pursell and Jackie Wisecup lost their first set to Jesseca Moon and Abby Harmon 3-6, but fought back in the second set to a tiebreaker that they lost 6-7 (4-7).

Haiven Pepper and Cameron Bucher lost their match to Samantha Stodger and Morgan Kelmper 1-6, 2-6 at second doubles.

Miami Trace is at Clinton-Massie today and will take part in the Washington Lady Blue Lions doubles tournament at Gardner Park Saturday at 10 a.m. Also taking part will be Jackson (a school that will begin a new league with Miami Trace, Washington, McClain, Hillsboro and Chillicothe that will begin play in August of 2017) and Marietta.
