It was senior night at Miami Trace on Monday as the Panthers hosted the Waverly Tigers in a non-conference soccer contest.

Behind four goals from Sekou Mara, Miami Trace cruised to a 5-0 victory over Waverly.

Mara scored his first two goals within a minute of each other, midway through the first half.

Just a couple minutes later, freshman Landon Burns scored a goal for the Panthers to increase the lead to 3-0. This was the halftime score.

Early in the second half, Mara earned the hat trick, scoring his third goal of the game.

His night wasn’t finished, as he knocked in his fourth goal of the evening just a few minutes later to make the score 5-0, which was the final.

The victory brings the Panthers’ record to 6-6-3. Miami Trace will host Zane Trace (10-3) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in their final regular season contest.

The Pioneers are seeded seventh in the Division II SE District Tournament which begins next week, while the Panthers are seeded 11th.

As previously mentioned, Miami Trace will travel to take on sixth seeded Alexander (7-4-2) in the first round of the postseason on Monday, Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.
