Miami Trace, Washington girls golf compete at Sectional tournament

On Thursday, Oct. 6, Washington and Miami Trace competed in the 2022 Division I Southwest District girls Sectional golf tournament at PipeStone Golf Club in Miamisburg.

Neither Fayette County team brought a full lineup, resulting in no team scores for the Lady Lions or Lady Panthers.

A total of 98 girls from 23 different schools competed in this event.

Washington brought one golfer, freshman Faith Wynne.

Wynne shot a 61 on the front nine and a 58 on the back nine for a score of 119, good enough for 68th overall.

Miami Trace brought three golfers: sophomore Izzy Deskins, junior Audrey Mullins, and senior Jordann Cockerill.

Deskins shot a 76 on the front nine and a 66 on the back nine for a score of 142, which was 89th overall.

Mullins shot a 76 on the front nine and a 67 on the back nine for a score of 143, which was 90th overall.

Cockerill shot a 99 on the front nine and an 84 on the back nine for a score of 183, which was 96th overall.

Match medalist on Thursday was senior Morgan Rodgers of Centerville, who shot a 38 on the front nine and a 35 on the back nine for a score of 73.

Centerville won the sectional with a team score of 309. Miamisburg was second with a 362, followed by Tippecanoe at 368, and Carroll at 38. Those four teams will advance to the district level of play.

The four ladies that were not on one of those four teams that will qualify to the district tournament are Kenna Jenkinson of Greenville, Kayla Watkins of Bellefontaine, Alayna Meyer of Bellbrook, and Nanea Llacuna of Chaminade Julienne.
