Miami Trace tennis opens season with 3-2 win over Jackson

The Miami Trace High School tennis team opened the 2022 season Tuesday, Aug. 9.

The Panthers hosted Frontier Athletic Conference opponent Jackson and began defense of their 2021 title with a three courts to two win.

Jackson won the first two singles courts, with Miami Trace winning third singles and both doubles courts.

At first singles, Brooklyn Riggs lost to Natalie Malone, 6-4, 2-6, 3-6.

At second singles, Jenna Goddard fell to Skylar Hatfield, 3-6, 3-6.

Caitlin Davis won the third singles match, 6-0, 5-7, 6-4 over Alex Bautista.

At first doubles, Raelin Pepper and Jacinta Pettit-Dinardo beat Josie Waugh and Mya Dummitt, 6-4, 6-2.

At second doubles, it was Audrie Musser and Maddie Frye over Lacy Houser and Lauren Carper, 6-3, 6-4.

In j-v matches, Miami Trace went 3-0 against Jackson.

Macy Mahorney beat Kylee Fowler, Allie Stoughton defeated Mackensey Coyan and Libby Johnson beat Hannah Fortier. These matches all had a similar final result: 6-0.

Miami Trace will host another FAC match when Chillicothe visits Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 4:30 p.m.
