Blue Lion baseball run-rules Cavs, 12-2

CHILLICOTHE — On Friday, April 23, the Washington Blue Lion varsity baseball team visited Chillicothe and pummelled the Cavaliers in a Frontier Athletic Conference game, 12-2 in five innings.

Titus Lotz started and earned the win for the Blue Lions. He pitched five innings with two hits and two runs (one earned). He struck out 10, walked two and hit one batter.

Werr started and took the loss for Chillicothe. He pitched 3.1 innings with seven hits and five runs (all earned). He struck out six and walked two.

Mankin threw 22 pitches with one hit, four runs (all earned) with no strikeouts and three walks.

Rinehart pitched 1.2 innings with five hits and three runs (all earned) with three walks.

The Blue Lions scored three runs in the top of the first.

With one out, John Wall singled to center.

A.J. Dallmayer singled to right and Lotz tripled to right, scoring Wall and Dallmayer.

Tyler Tackage singled to left, scoring Lotz.

Chillicothe put one run on the board in the bottom of the first.

Washington scored one in the top of the second.

With the first two batters retired, Karson Runk singled to right field.

Wall then hit a double to left field, scoring Runk to make it 4-1.

Chillicothe scored again in the bottom of the third to set the score at 4-2.

The Blue Lions responded with five runs in the top of the fourth.

With one out, Runk drew a walk. He moved to second on a wild pitch.

Wall singled to left, scoring Runk. Wall advanced to second on the throw.

Dallmayer walked and Lotz walked to load the bases.

Tackage walked, scoring Wall to make it 6-2, Washington.

Jonah Waters grounded into a fielder’s choice, with Dallmayer scoring.

Tanner Lemaster singled to center, scoring Tackage. Waters went to third on the play and Lemaster pulled into second.

Jack Mead singled, scoring Waters to make it 9-2.

The Blue Lions scored three more runs in the top of the fifth.

Runk walked and stole second and Wall walked.

Both runners moved up on a passed ball.

Dallmayer hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Runk.

With two out, Wall advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a single by Tackage to make it 11-2.

Waters singled and Evan Lynch was sent in to pinch-run.

Lemaster singled to left, scoring Tackage.

Chillicothe’s first batter of the fifth walked, but was picked off at first.

A subsequent strikeout and a ground out ended the game in accordance with the 10-run rule.

The win lifted Washington to 7-9 overall, 3-4 in the FAC.

Washington will host Waverly Tuesday at 5 p.m.
