Panthers baseball beats Legacy Christian

The Miami Trace Panthers varsity baseball team opened its first season in two years with a 13-1 win at Legacy Christian Academy, located in Xenia. The game was played Saturday, March 27.

Gabe Campagna started for the Panthers and got the win. He pitched four innings with two hits and one earned run allowed. He struck out 11 and issued one walk.

Wes May pitched a scoreless fifth inning, striking out two batters.

Braden Osborne was the leading hitter for the Panthers, going 4 for 4 with a triple, one run scored and four RBI. Osborne also stole four bases.

Conner Bucher went 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored. He also had four stolen bases. The Panthers stole a total of 14 bases.

Hunter McBee went 2 for 3 with three runs and one RBI. One of his hits was a double. He also had two stolen bases.

The Panthers scored all of the runs they would need with two in the top of the first.

Miami Trace tacked on five more runs in the second.

Legacy Christian scored what proved to be its only run of the game in the bottom of the second.

After a scoreless third inning for both teams, the Panthers scored three times in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

The Panthers had a total of 12 hits in the game and committed one error.

Legacy Christian had two hits and three errors.

Miami Trace is currently 3-0 on the season. They defeated Columbus Briggs, 16-0 in five innings on March 30.

On Wednesday, March 31, the Panthers hosted the Tigers of Circleville High School.

The Panthers won this game, 10-8.

Miami Trace is scheduled to host a doubleheader against Manchester Saturday with the first game starting at noon.
