Strong second half carries Lady Panthers past Unioto, 57-44

CHILLICOTHE — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers visited Unioto High School to take on the Shermans Saturday, Jan. 30.

Miami Trace rallied from behind to post a 57-44 victory.

The Lady Panthers had three players score in double figures, led by senior Gracee Stewart with 14 points. She had two threes and grabbed six rebounds.

Senior Delaney Eakins scored 10 points and had five rebounds and sophomore Hillery Jacobs scored 10 points, hit one three and had five rebounds.

Senior Magarah Bloom had 10 rebounds, five assists and seven steals.

Unioto junior Avery Miller was the game’s leading scorer with 15 points.

Sophomore Addison Mohan scored eight points and freshman Amaris Betts had seven points.

Miami Trace made 20 of 41 field goal attempts for 49 percent.

Unioto shot 16 of 48 from the field for 33 percent.

Miami Trace had 24 turnovers to 19 for Unioto.

The Lady Panthers were 14 of 20 from the free throw line for 70 percent.

Unioto made 8 of 12 shots from the line for 67 percent.

Unioto led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter and 32-29 at the half.

Miami Trace put the clamps on, defensively, in the second half, out-scoring Unioto 13-7 in the third quarter and 15-5 in the fourth for the 57-44 victory.

Miami Trace’s game at Lynchburg-Clay, scheduled for Monday, was cancelled due to road conditions.

The Lady Panthers are scheduled to host McClain in a battle for first place in the Frontier Athletic Conference Wednesday, with the j-v game starting at 5:30 p.m.
