WILMINGTON — The Miami Trace baseball Panthers visited Wilmington for a game against the Hurricane Wednesday, April 20.

Wilmington won this SCOL match-up, 12-1.

Trenton Harris started on the mound for the Panthers, suffering the loss.

Jordan Ianson got the win for the Hurricane.

“We hit the ball off him, but it seemed we hit the ball right at someone,” Miami Trace head coach Rob Smith said.

The game was tied, 1-1 going into the bottom of the third. That’s when the Hurricane scored nine runs.

For Wilmington, Andrew Davis hit a bases-loaded triple in the third. The Hurricane had seven hits and drew four walks in that inning.

“In our four losses this year, we’ve had four bad innings,” Smith said. “Our kids played hard. Wilmington’s a good baseball team and we faced a good pitcher.”

The loss put the Panthers’ record at 5-3 in the SCOL, 8-4 overall at that time.

Offensively for Miami Trace: Trenton Harris, 1-2, 1 2b, 1 rbi; Brady Wallace, 0-2; Mitchell Creamer, 0-1; Skyler McDonald, 0-2; Drew Stevens, 0-2; Coby Hughes, 0-2; Logan Robinson, 0-2; Jacob Batson, 1-2, 1 run, 1 sb; Heath Cockerill, 0-2.
