Lady Lions lose close game to Chillicothe, beat East Clinton

The Washington Lady Blue Lions softball team hosted Chillicothe in an SCOL match-up Monday, April 18.

Chillicothe won this close battle, 2-1.

The Lady Lions scored their run in the bottom of the first inning.

Chillicothe scored it’s two runs in the fourth.

Both pitchers had very good efforts for their respective teams.

Kate Jude took the loss for the Lady Lions.

She pitched seven innings, allowing only two runs (neither was earned) on two hits. She did not walk a batter and struck out seven.

Olivia Ray pitched a complete game for Chillicothe, giving up one earned run and six hits. She did not walk a batter and struck out six.

Madison Helterbrand was the game’s leading hitter for Washington, collecting three hits, including a double.

Wendy Hawk had two hits and drove in Washington’s only run, which was scored by Brooklyn Wilson.

Maddy Jenkins also had a hit for Washington.

On Wednesday, April 20, the Lady Lions visited East Clinton for an SCOL game with the Astros.

Washington won this game, 8-5.

The Lady Lions pounded out 13 hits with Wendy Hawk going 3 for 4 and scoring two runs.

Kate Jude went 2 for 4 with a double and three rbi.

Jude was the winning pitcher for Washington, going seven innings with nine hits and five runs (three earned) with one walk and five strikeouts.

Ciera Strahler had two hits and scored twice and Kalee Crowe had two hits, including a double, scoring once and driving in two.

Taylor Harrington went 2 for 4 with one run scored.

Maddy Jenkins went 1 for 3 and Madison Helterbrand went 1 for 3 with one run scored.

After one inning of play, East Clinton led, 2-1.

Washington scored two in the third to take a lead they would not relinquish.

The Lady Lions added a run in the fourth, three in the fifth and one more in the seventh.

East Clinton scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
