Massie shuts out Lady Lions, 8-0

The Washington Lady Blue Lions hosted SCOL-leading and undefeated Clinton-Massie on a sun-drenched Friday afternoon.

Clinton-Massie won this game, 8-0.

Massie rapped out 14 hits and played error-free defense.

Washington had nine hits and four errors.

Carruthers got the win, allowing nine hits, with four walks and seven strikeouts.

Kate Jude started and took the loss for the Lady Lions. She pitched four innings with 10 hits and seven runs (four earned), two walks and two strikeouts.

Ciera Strahler pitched three innings with four hits and one run (unearned) allowed.

Offensively for Massie, Fisher was 4 for 5 with three doubles; Carter was 3 for 5 and Robinson was 2 for 4 with a home run.

For Washington, Madison Helterbrand went 3 for 3 with a double and Strahler was 3 for 3.

The Falcons scored single runs in each of the first three innings. They added four in the fourth and one in the sixth.

The Lady Lions (now 3-5 overall, 2-6 in the SCOL) are at home Saturday with a game against Springfield Shawnee at 9 a.m. and a game against London at 2 p.m. In between, Shawnee will take on London.

Elsewhere in the SCOL Friday, Wilmington beat McClain at Greenfield’s Mitchell Park, 5-4 in eight innings.
