Wilmington tennis tops Miami Trace, 4-1

On a day when it would have been much better to have been in the clubhouse than outside, the Miami Trace Panthers hosted Wilmington for an SCOL tennis match at the Club at Quail Run.

Wilmington won the match, 4-1.

At first singles, senior S. Kratzer beat Miami Trace junior Seth Leach, 6-1, 6-2.

At second singles, freshman J. Fender beat Panther sophomore Matt Fender, 6-1, 6-2.

At third singles, Miami Trace sophomore Ely Schirtziner defeated Wilmington junior D. Andrew, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

At first doubles freshman B. Henry and sophomore D. Moyer beat sophomores Adam Ginn and Johnathan Allen, 7-5, 6-0.

At second doubles, senior A. Embrec and freshman J. Romec beat senior Riley Evans and junior Todd Peterson, 6-4, 6-1.

There was one j-v match played Monday.

Wilmington juniors J. Smith and I. Lance beat sophomores Elijah Campbell and Drew Stanforth, 8-6 in a pro-set.

“I’m very proud of their improvements,” Miami Trace head coach Mitch Augenstein said.

Miami Trace (0-3 overall, 0-3 SCOL) will host Circleville Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
