Cavaliers beat Panthers in season-opening match

The Miami Trace tennis team opened the 2016 season with a home match at the Club at Quail Run Wednesday against SCOL opponent Chillicothe.

The Cavaliers won the match, 4-1.

At first singles, Will Krieger of Chillicothe beat Seth Leach, 6-2, 6-2.

At second singles, Sean McCorkle beat the Panthers’ Matt Fender, 6-4, 6-0.

At third singles, Chillicothe’s Ryan Littler beat Riley Evans, 6-0, 6-0.

In the first doubles match, the Cavs’ Gabby Lapurga and Max Krieger defeated Ely Schirtzinger and Todd Peterson, 6-2, 6-0.

Miami Trace got the win at second doubles with Adam Ginn and Johnathan Allen beat Pierce Wissler and Keaton Dove, 7-5, 6-4.

Last year, in a match against Chillicothe, the Panthers won five games out of all five matches.

In this encounter, Miami Trace won 23 total games.

Miami Trace is at East Clinton Friday and back at the Club at Quail Run to take on Wilmington Monday at 4:30 p.m.
