CHILLICOTHE — The Miami Trace Panthers varsity basketball team played a Frontier Athletic Conference game at Chillicothe Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Chillicothe won the game, 75-39. The Cavaliers, once again champions of the FAC, improve to 9-0 in the conference. They have a game remaining with Jackson.
Freshman Andrew Guthrie led the Panthers with 11 points.
Junior Logan Rodgers had 10 points and four rebounds.
For Chillicothe, Brandon Noel scored 23 points and senior Jayvon Maughmer had 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Chillicothe bounded out to a 20-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.
At halftime, Chillicothe was in the lead, 36-15.
After three quarters of play, the Cavaliers held a 60-25 lead.
The Cavs made 31 of 47 field goal attempts for 65 percent.
Miami Trace connected on 17 of 47 shots for 36 percent.
Both teams made five three-point field goals.
The Cavaliers outscored the Panthers from the free throw line, 8-0. In a somewhat rare occurrence, the Panthers did not have a free throw attempt in the game.
The Cavs had 29 rebounds to 16 for Miami Trace.
Miami Trace (12-9 overall, 6-4 FAC) concludes regular season play for 2019-20 with a game at Peebles High School Friday. The freshman game starts at 5 p.m.
The Panthers will begin play in the Division II tournament taking on Logan Elm Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. at Southeastern High School near Chillicothe.
