Miami Trace 8th grade girls finish regular season 9-5

The Miami Trace 8th grade Lady Panthers resumed their season on Jan. 7 at home against Wilmington.

It was a back and forth, tightly-defensive game with Wilmington coming away with the win, 28-25.

Shaylee McDonald led the Panthers with 18 points and 5 rebounds.

Shania Villaruel had 4 points, Morgan Eggleton had a bucket and 11 rebounds and Aubrey Schwartz chipped in a free throw to go along with 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

On Jan. 11, the Panthers hosted Greenfield.

Miami Trace won this game 34-22.

Shaylee McDonald had a game high of 28 points and 3 steals.

Shania Villaruel chipped in a basket, along with Aubrey Schwartz. Schwartz also had 6 assists. Morgan Eggleton had a free throw, 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Aubrey McCoy also had a free throw.

The Panthers traveled to Chillicothe on Jan. 14. It was cold outside and so was the Panthers’ shooting as they fell to the Cavaliers, 46-26. Shaylee McDonald led with 16 points and 3 rebounds. Aubrey Schwartz had 7 points and 3 assists. Morgan Eggleton had 3 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

East Clinton came to Miami Trace on Jan. 18, where the Panthers defeated the Astros, 30-5. Shaylee McDonald led with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

Aubrey Schwartz had 5 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists.

Morgan Eggleton had 4 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals. Kate Leach and Gracie Bapst each had a bucket.

On Jan. 21, the team traveled to Hillsboro. The Panthers won this game, 41-15.

McDonald led with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Schwartz had 7 points and 5 assists. Eggleton had 6 points and 5 rebounds. Villaruel had 4 points and 5 steals.

Linzy Turley chipped in a basket and 2 rebounds.

The Panthers hosted Washington on Jan. 25. Cold shooting cost the Panthers the game, 39-31. McDonald led with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Villaruel had 5 points and 3 steals. Schwartz had 5 points and 6 rebounds. Eggleton chipped in a basket and 3 rebounds.

On Jan. 28,the Panthers headed to Clinton-Massie and returned home with a 43-10 win.

McDonald led with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Eggleton and Aubrey McCoy each had 8 points. Kate Leach had a bucket. Schwartz chipped in a free throw, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

They traveled back to Clinton County on Feb. 1 to take on Wilmington. It proved to be another back and forth contest between the two, but Wilmington pulled ahead in the final minutes to take the win 34-27.

McDonald led the Panthers with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Eggleton had 5 points and 5 rebounds. Villaruel had 4 points and 4 rebounds. Schwartz chipped in a free throw, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

For their final game of regular season, the Miami Trace eighth grade team traveled to East Clinton.

The Panthers had contributions from the entire team and took the win, 37-6.

McDonald led with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Eggleton had 7 points and 8 rebounds.

Villaruel had 3 points and 7 rebounds; Linzy Turley had 2 points and 4 rebounds.

McCoy also had a basket and 5 rebounds. Addy Hoppes and Gracie Bapst each had a bucket. Kate Leach had a free throw and 7 rebounds. Schwartz had a free throw, 7 assists and 5 steals.

The 8th grade girls finished the regular season with a record of 9-5.
