MT j-v girls split games with Hillsboro, McClain

HILLSBORO — The Miami Trace j-v girls basketball team played a Frontier Athletic Conference game against the Hillsboro Lady Indians Saturday, Dec. 14.

Miami Trace won this game, 39-28.

Hillary McCoy was the game’s leading scorer for Miami Trace with 17 points. She had both of Miami Trace’s three-point field goals.

Mallory Pavey scored eight points, Lilly Workman and Mallory Lovett both scored six points and Addy Little had two points.

Bryanna Bledsoe led Hillsboro with five points.

Mallory Parsons, Mya Bell and Lexie Lesley each scored four points for Hillsboro.

After leading 7-5 at the end of the first period, Miami Trace extended its lead by winning the second quarter, 12-4.

At the end of three quarters of play, Miami Trace held a 29-22 lead.

On Wednesday, Dec. 11, Miami Trace’s j-v girls team played at Greenfield against the McClain Lady Tigers.

McClain won this FAC game, 29-23.

Hillary McCoy led Miami Trace with 10 points.

Mallory Pavey scored six, Sidney Payton had three points and Lilly Workman and Kate Hicks each added two points.

Iva Easter led the game for McClain with 13 points.

Evelyn VanZant scored eight points, Madyson Sykes had four points and Jaden McCoy and Gracey Eakin each had two points.

Miami Trace was 7 of 11 from the free throw line for 64 percent.

McClain hit 10 of 18 free throws for 56 percent.

McClain led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Miami Trace led 15-12 at halftime.

McClain outscored Miami Trace 5-0 in the third quarter and 12-8 in the fourth to post the win.
