MT 9th grade loses close games to VC, Jackson

On Saturday, Nov. 30, the Miami Trace freshman basketball team played a non-conference game at Vinton County High School against the Vikings.

Vinton County won this game, 29-27.

Shay Salyers was the game’s leading scorer for Miami Trace with 13 points.

Cameron Fannin, Bryson Sheets and Cole Little each scored four points and Tate Landrum scored two.

Brayden Cain led Vinton County with nine points.

On Friday, Dec. 6, the Miami Trace freshman basketball team hosted Frontier Athletic Conference opponents Jackson.

Jackson slipped past the Panthers, 29-28 in overtime.

Shay Salyers was the game’s leading scorer for the Panthers with 14 points.

Bryson Sheets scored five points, Cole Little added four, Will Dawes and Cameron Fannin each scored two points and Zach Warnock scored one.

Trenton Evans led Jackson with nine and Kade Kinzel scored eight points.

Jackson led 8-4 at the end of the first quarter and 16-12 at halftime.

Jackson led 23-18 at the end of the third quarter.

Miami Trace outscored Jackson 6-1 in the fourth quarter to tie the game, 24-24.
