The Washington Lady Lion tennis team played at Circleville against the Lady Tigers Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Washington lost this non-conference match, three courts to two.
At first singles, for Washington, Brooklyn Foose was trailing, 3-6, 2-2 against Hinton when she had to retire due to an injury.
At second singles, Shawna Conger lost to Jenkins, 6-1, 2-6, 4-6.
At third singles Mei Kobayashi lost to Shaw, 3-6, 2-6.
Washington won both varsity doubles matches.
At first doubles, Sydnie Hall and Payton Maddux won, 6-0, 1-6, 6-0.
At second doubles, Joshalynn Worth and Adeline Newsome won, 1-6, 6-2, 10-6. Instead of a regular third set, the teams played a tiebreaker to 10 to decide the match.
On Thursday, Aug. 22, at Chillicothe, Washington took on defending Frontier Athletic Conference co-champions, the Cavaliers.
Chillicothe won the match, 4-1.
At first singles, Brooklyn Foose lost to Sims-Clark, 2-6, 2-6.
At second singles, Shawna Conger lost to Drotleff, 1-6, 0-6.
At third singles, Mei Kobayashi lost to Penn, 0-6, 0-6.
Washington’s Sydnie Hall and Payton Maddux won their first doubles match, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8. The third set was played as a tiebreaker to 10 to decide the match.
Joshalynn Worth and Adeline Newsome lost to Pendell and Wissler, 2-6, 0-6 at second doubles.
Washington is taking part in a tournament at Wilmington Saturday at 9 a.m.
The Lady Lions will host Miami Trace Tuesday at Gardner Park at 4:30 p.m.
