Jackson defeats Lady Panthers, 10-0

JACKSON — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers traveled down to Jackson for a Frontier Athletic Conference varsity softball game Monday, April 22.

Jackson won the game, taking the season series, 10-0 in five innings.

It was a tough afternoon at the plate for Miami Trace, coming up with just one hit, a double in the fourth inning by Jessica Camp.

“We just have to go and play ball,” Miami Trace head coach Joe Henry said. “Jackson is a good team that came (ready) to play today.”

J. Evans was the winning pitcher for Jackson. She struck out 12 and walked one, facing a total of 19 batters.

Olivia Wolffe started and took the loss for Miami Trace. She pitched 3.2 innings with eight runs (six earned), three strikeouts and no walks.

Maddie Mossbarger pitched one-third of an inning with two unearned runs, one walk and no strikeouts.

Alford and Newkirk hit home runs for Jackson.

Miami Trace (11-4 overall, 5-3 FAC) will host the always-tough Leesburg Fairfield Lady Lions Thursday at 5 p.m. Fairfield is ranked No. 4 in the State in Division III in the second weekly coaches poll.
