Hillsboro baseball beats Blue Lions, 7-1

HILLSBORO — The Washington Blue Lion baseball team visited Hillsboro for a Frontier Athletic Conference match-up with the Indians Tuesday, April 16.

The Indians won the game, 7-1.

Humphries started and pitched a complete game for Hillsboro. He allowed seven hits and one earned run. He struck out seven and walked one.

Ryan Schwartz was the starting pitcher for Washington. He pitched 3.1 innings, taking the loss.

He allowed four hits and seven runs (six earned) with three strikeouts and five walks.

Brock Morris pitched 2.1 innings with one hit, two strikeouts and three walks and Cortez O’Flaherty pitched one-third of an inning. His line was all zeros.

Seven different players had hits for Washington: George Reno, Karson Runk, Tyler Rood, Bailey Roberts, Schwartz, Eli Shaw and O’Flaherty.

In the top of the seventh for Washington, Schwartz led off with a single, followed by a hit from Shaw.

Tyler Tackage hit into a fielder’s choice, with Schwartz out at third.

O’Flaherty singled to left to load the bases.

Owen Mullins, who was sent in to run for the catcher, Shaw, scored on an error in the outfield.

Washington (1-11 overall, 0-6 in the FAC) is at Chillicothe today and home against Clark Southeastern Thursday at 5 p.m.
