HILLSBORO — The Washington Lady Blue Lion varsity softball team traveled to Hillsboro to take on the Lady Indians in a Frontier Athletic Conference game Tuesday, April 16.
For the second time this season, Washington defeated Hillsboro, this time by a score of 11-2.
Washington defeated Hillsboro when the teams played at Washington High School on April 3, 9-7.
Tuesday, Makenna Knisley was the winning pitcher for Washington.
She pitched seven innings with five hits and two earned runs. She struck out five and walked one.
G. Dearmon started and worked the complete game for Hillsboro, sustaining the loss. She allowed 13 hits and 11 runs (eight earned) with 13 strikeouts and six walks.
Maddy Jenkins was the offensive leader for Washington, going 4 for 4 with a double and three rbi.
Brooklyn Devenport went 3 for 5 with three rbi and three runs scored.
Meredith Pabst had two hits and drove in one run; Corynn Chrisman had two hits, including a double and scored one run.
Dearmon had two hits and drove in one for Hillsboro.
Washington scored three times in the top of the second.
Hillsboro pulled to within a run with two in the bottom of the third.
Washington scored twice in the fourth, once in the sixth and five times in the seventh.
Washington (3-13 overall, 2-5 in the FAC) plays at Chillicothe today and will be back at home Thursday to take on Clark Southeastern at 5 p.m.
