JACKSON — On Monday, April 15, the Washington Blue Lion tennis team made the trip down to Jackson to take on the Ironmen in a Frontier Athletic Conference match.
Jackson won the match, five courts to none.
At first singles, Grant Kuhlwein lost to Mason Sheets, 2-6, 6-2, 5-10 (the third set was a super tiebreaker to 10).
At second singles, Blaise Tayese fell to Carson Strange, 0-6, 4-6.
Ryan Elrich lost to Garrett Turner at third singles, 1-6, 0-6.
At first doubles, Ty Rose and Josh Cartwright lost to Raymond Armstrong and Joe Crabtree, 4-6, 1-6.
At second doubles, Sam Schroeder and Olivia Wayne fell to Patrick Henry and Colt Memenis, 4-6, 3-6.
On Thursday, April 11, Washington played at Chillicothe and won that Frontier Athletic Conference match, 5-0.
At first singles, Grant Kuhlwein defeated Jonah Halm, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
At second singles, Blaise Tayese beat Garret Anders, 7-5, 6-3.
Third singles had Ryan Elrich winning against Kate Conner, 6-4, 6-4.
Ty Rose and Josh Cartwright won at first doubles, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-4 over Silas McDaniel and Reece Hatfield.
At second doubles, Sam Schroeder and Olivia Wayne defeated Landen Rippfith and Corrine Woods, 6-3, 5-7, 10-4.
Washington is now 4-4 overall, 2-4 in the FAC.
Washington will be having a celebrity tennis match Wednesday at Gardner Park at 4:30 p.m.
The Blue Lions won’t have a match for a while.
They will be back in action Monday, April 29 at Hillsboro.
