Warriors edge Blue Lion baseball, 6-5

CHILLICOTHE — The Washington Blue Lion varsity baseball team was on the road Thursday, taking on the Adena Warriors at the VA Stadium in Chillicothe.

The Blue Lions fell behind, but rallied to tie the game, only to have Adena score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Gray got the win in relief for Adena. He pitched 2.1 innings with two hits, no runs and three strikeouts.

Williams started and went the first three innings for the Warriors. He allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) with two walks and two strikeouts.

McDonald pitched 1.2 innings with two hits, three runs (all earned), one strikeout and two walks.

Ryan Schwartz started for the Blue Lions and pitched six innings. He allowed eight hits and five runs (four earned) with four strikeouts and one walk. He also hit two batters.

Brock Morris took the loss in relief. He pitched two-thirds of an inning with one run (earned) and three walks.

The Blue Lions had seven hits in the game, led by Karson Runk going 2 for 4 with a triple and one run scored.

Schwartz hit a triple, drove in two and scored one.

Wilburn led Adena with two hits.

The Blue Lions trailed 3-0 when they came to bat in the top of the third.

With one out, Runk hit a triple to right field.

Jarred Hall reached on an error that allowed Runk to score.

The Warriors scored twice in the third to take a 5-1 lead.

The Blue Lions countered with a run in the top of the fourth.

Schwartz led off with a walk and Eli Shaw followed with a walk.

R.G. Crabtree executed a sacrifice bunt, moving both runners along.

Tyler Tackage then grounded out, scoring Schwartz.

Washington tied the game with three runs in the top of the fifth.

It was a two-out rally for the Blue Lions.

Tyler Rood had a single and Bailey Roberts walked.

Schwartz followed with a triple to center field to make it 5-4.

Owen Mullins was sent in to run for Schwartz.

Shaw smacked a double to left that scored Mullins to tie the game.

In the bottom of the seventh, C. Folgelsong walked and went to second on a passed ball.

Long grounded out to move the runner to third.

The next two batters for Adena walked to load the bases.

Garrison flied out to right field allowing Folgelsong to tag and score.

The Blue Lions are at Miami Trace today at 5 p.m. and will play at Hillsboro Monday at 5 p.m.
