HILLSBORO — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers varsity softball team scored one run in the top of the first inning of its Frontier Athletic Conference game at Hillsboro Monday, April 8.

From that point, it was up to the pitching of Olivia Wolffe and the defense to hold Hillsboro in check and that they were able to do, winning by a somewhat rare score of 1-0.

“It was another exciting night on the softball field with two good pitchers competing for their teammates,” Miami Trace head coach Joe Henry said. “The ladies went back and forth all night, throwing strikes.”

Wolffe pitched seven innings with two hits, 13 strikeouts and three walks.

G. Dearmon of Hillsboro pitched seven innings with one hit, 13 strikeouts and four walks.

In the top of the first, Kaylee Hauck walked and stole second.

Jessica Camp grounded out, with Hauck advancing to third.

With Ashley Campbell at the plate, a passed ball allowed Hauck to score.

Miami Trace, now 7-0 overall, 3-0 in the FAC, hosts East Clinton today and is home against defending FAC champions Jackson Wednesday at 5 p.m.
