Jackson defeats Blue Lions, 9-2

JACKSON — The Washington Blue Lion varsity baseball team made the trip down into Jackson County to take on the Ironmen in a Frontier Athletic Conference game Monday afternoon.

Jackson won the game, 9-2.

Bragg started and got the win for Jackson. He pitched 5.2 innings with six hits and two runs (none earned) with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Massie pitched the final 1.1 innings with one hit and two strikeouts.

Jared Hall started and took the loss on the mound for the Blue Lions.

He pitched 4.2 innings with six hits and eight runs (six earned) with three strikeouts, two walks and two hit batsmen.

Brock Morris pitched 1.1 innings in relief with two hits and one earned run. He also walked one batter and hit one.

Offensively, Hall led the Blue Lions, going 3 for 4 with a double and one rbi.

Tyler Rood also hit a double for Washington.

Bailey Roberts, Cortez O’Flaherty and Karson Runk each had base hits for Washington.

Jackson was leading 4-0 when the Blue Lions came to bat in the top of the fifth.

Tyler Tackage reached on an error with one out.

Runk singled and Tackage scored on a hit to center by Hall.

Jackson took an 8-2 lead with four runs in the bottom of the fifth.

In the sixth for the Blue Lions, Rood led off with a double to right.

With the next batter retired, Roberts reached on an error with Rood advancing to third.

With two away, O’Flaherty singled into right field, scoring Rood.

The Blue Lions went on to leave the bases loaded in the sixth.

Washington (1-6 overall) is at Circleville Tuesday and at Greenfield to play the McClain Tigers Wednesday.

In other FAC games Monday, Hillsboro defeated Miami Trace, 5-1 and McClain beat Chillicothe, 3-2.
