Panthers edge Ironton, 8-7

CHILLICOTHE — The Miami Trace Panthers varsity baseball team took on the Tigers of Ironton High School in a non-conference game at the VA Stadium in Chillicothe Saturday, April 6.

Hunter McBee started and got the win for Miami Trace.

He pitched four innings with three hits and three runs (all earned) with two strikeouts and three walks.

Mason Snow pitched 2.1 innings with no hits, two runs (both earned), three walks and two strikeouts.

Dylan Bernard got the save with two-thirds of an inning with one hit and two runs (both earned) with two strikeouts and three walks.

Miami Trace trailed 2-0 coming to bat for the first time.

Josh Gilmore led off with a single and was balked to second.

He advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a single by Connor Bucher.

Drew Batson walked and Bucher scored on Dalton Mayer’s fielder’s choice.

Batson scored on a single by Austin Brown.

The Panthers added a run in the third with two outs.

Batson walked and Austin Mathews followed with a walk.

Osborne singled, scoring Batson.

The fourth was another scoring inning for the Panthers.

Luke Henry reached on an error and two outs later Brightman bunted for a single.

Bucher singled, scoring Henry and Brightman.

Mathews singled and Batson scored on an error.

Ironton scored four in the top of the seventh.

Panthers are home against Jackson Wednesday at 5 p.m.
