Falcons win pair from Lady Lions

The Washington Lady Blue Lion varsity softball team visited former SCOL opponent Clinton-Massie for a doubleheader Saturday, April 6.

Massie won the first game, 10-0 in five innings and took the second contest, 11-1 in six innings.

In the first game, Clinton-Massie pitcher L. Carter threw a one-hitter over five innings.

Maddy Jenkins had one hit for Washington and Makenna Knisley reached on an error.

N. Lay led the Falcons with a home run and a double and four rbi.

Brooklyn Devenport started and sustained the loss for Washington. She pitched three innings with 11 hits and 10 runs (nine earned) with one walk and one strikeout.

Meredith Pabst pitched one inning with one hit, no runs, no walks and one strikeout.

In the second game Saturday, Clinton-Massie won, 11-1 in six innings.

The Lady Lions scored in the top of the first, when Brooklyn Devenport bunted for a single.

She scored one out later on a single by Makenna Knisley.

Knisley had two hits on the day and Mallori Tucker had one hit.

T. Florea was the winning pitcher for Clinton-Massie. She pitched six innings with four hits and one earned run. She struck out 10 and did not walk a batter.

Knisley suffered the loss for Washington. She pitched 5.1 innings with 16 hits and 11 runs (nine earned) with four strikeouts and no walks.

Washington (1-8) plays at Jackson today at 5 p.m.

The Lady Lions are at Adena Tuesday at 5 p.m.
