CHILLICOTHE — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers varsity softball team improved its record to 4-0 after an 8-1 win at Chillicothe Wednesday, April 3.

It was the first game for Miami Trace against a Frontier Athletic Conference opponent this season.

Olivia Wolffe was the winning pitcher for Miami Trace.

She pitched seven innings and allowed one run on one hit. She struck out 12 and did not walk a batter.

“It was another great night of pitching for Olivia,” Miami Trace head coach Joe Henry said. “She was in the zone again.”

Miami Trace scored what turned out to be all the runs they would need with two in the top of the first.

Wolffe singled and Devin Thomas was sent in to pinch run. Thomas stole second and Jessica Camp followed with a walk.

Piper Grooms went in to run for Camp and stole second.

Sidney Payton walked and Aubrey Schwartz hit a double, driving in two.

In the third, Wolffe reached on an error and Thomas subbed for her on the bases.

Campbell walked and Payton drove in Thomas with a double.

Cassidy Lovett hit a single that drove in two and Krissy Ison drove Lovett home with a single.

In the fourth, Camp walked and scored on a home run by Campbell, her third of the season.

J. Brown hit a solo home run for Chillicothe to avoid the shut out in the bottom of the seventh.

Miami Trace will be at home Friday for another FAC game, this one against McClain. Game time is 5 p.m.
