Blue Lion 8th grade falls to Hillsboro

On Thursday, Dec. 10, the Washington Blue Lion eighth grade boys basketball team traveled to Hillsboro and suffered their first loss of the year, 43-38.

A strong scoring effort from Trevor Rarrick in the first half and a 3-pointer at the buzzer from Gabe Arazo sent the Lions to the locker room with the first half lead.

Hillsboro came out in the second half a lot more aggressive attacking the basket, according to Washington coach Ryan Garrison.

In the end the game was decided at the free throw line.

The Blue Lions sent Hillsboro to the line 32 times versus their eight trips.

Trevor Rarrick led all scorers for Washington with 13.

Also for the young Lions, Eli Lynch had 8, Garitt Leisure and Levi Ludwick both had 6, and Gabe Arazo had 5.

Washington (1-1) is at Chillicothe Monday and at Clinton-Massie Thursday.

The seventh grade teams play at 5 p.m. with the eighth grade to follow.
