The Washington Lady Blue Lions hosted East Clinton in an SCOL game Saturday evening, Dec. 5

Washington rolled out to a 15-2 lead at the end of the first quarter en route to a 51-40 victory.

Washington (now 2-3 overall, 2-2 in the SCOL) had a trio of players in double figures, led by freshman Hannah Haithcock with 14 points.

Junior Savannah Wallace and senior Jaycie McRoberts both scored 12 points and senior Alexis Gray scored eight points for Washington.

Lacey Peterman was the game’s leading scorer for East Clinton with 15 points.

Ciara Cooper had nine for East Clinton and Paige Lilly added six points.

East Clinton falls to 1-5 overall, 0-3 in the SCOL.

By halftime, Washington held a 21-9 lead.

East Clinton out-scored Washington 31-30 in the second half.

The score favored Washington, 38-24 at the end of the third quarter.

“I would say East Clinton is up and coming,” Washington head coach John Persinger said. “Their leading scorer was a freshman; their best player is another freshman who is out for the season with an injury.

“Their post person was out for the night against us,” Persinger said. “It was kind of a sloppy game. We had 25, 26 or 27 turnovers. We need to work on that.”

Washington is at McClain Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and home against Hillsboro Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

In other SCOL games Saturday, McClain defeated Chillicothe, 52-41 and Clinton-Massie pummelled Hillsboro, 76-31.
