Lady Lions fall to Chillicothe, 51-34

CHILLICOTHE — The Washington Lady Blue Lions hit the road Wednesday, Dec. 2 for an SCOL game in Chillicothe against the Lady Cavaliers.

Chillicothe improved to 3-0 in the SCOL with a 51-34 victory.

Washington’s Hannah Haithcock and Chillicothe’s Osh Brown shared game high-scoring honors, each with 15 points.

Wendy Hawk had eight points and Jaycie McRoberts five for Washington.

Shawnee Smith had 12 for Chillicothe, while Shawntel Smith and Essence Devlin each added seven points.

Chillicothe held an 8-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.

By the half, the Lady Cavs were in front, 17-8.

The Lady Lions outscored Chillicothe by one point in the third quarter, which left them trailing 32-24.

The Lady Cavs saved their biggest offensive output for the fourth quarter, scoring 19 points to 10 for Washington to create the final score of 51-34.

“From the get-go, it was a real physical game,” Washington head coach John Persinger said. “We could not match them in being physical.

“We missed a couple of easy shots in the beginning where I think we were rushing it,” Persinger said. “Because we knew there was going to be contact.

“Chillicothe just out-played us,” Persinger said. “They were a lot more physical than what we were.”

Washington (1-3 overall, 1-2 in the SCOL) returns home for another SCOL game Saturday against East Clinton. The j-v game starts at 5:30 p.m.

Lady Lions win j-v game vs. Chillicothe

In the j-v game Wednesday, Washington defeated Chillicothe, 32-29.

Washington is now 2-1 overall having played only SCOL teams to this point.

Raven Haithcock led the Lady Lions with eight points.

Maddy Garrison and Delaney Greer were next, each with seven points for Washington.

Meliah Johnson led the Lady Cavaliers with seven points.

Hayden Price and Jenna Murihead each added six points for Chillicothe.
