GREENFIELD — The Washington Blue Lion wrestling team travelled to Greenfield Thursday, Dec. 20 and took on McClain and Logan Elm.

Washington went 0-2 losing to two tough teams. Logan Elm defeated the Blue Lions 43-29 and McClain won the Frontier Athletic Conference match up, 39-38 in an exciting match that went back and forth. With the loss Washington is now 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the FAC.

The Blue Lions had Branton Dawes and Kalub Wilkerson go 2-0 on the night while several other wrestlers came away with one victory.

Bryce Warner, Austin Chamberlain, Collin George, Will Baughn, Cole Goosetree, Collier Brown and Mason Mustain each won one match for Washington.

“We wrestled tough but lost some close matches we needed to win against McClain,” Washington head coach Louis Reid said. “We are young but we have to win the close matches in order to win duals against good teams. We will work on managing matches at practice. We were very aggressive and never gave up in the matches, so that is an improvement from what we have been seeing through the season.”

The Blue Lions will be wrestling over Christmas break at the Wheeling Park Duals in Wheeling West Virginia on Dec. 28 and 29.
