Local soccer quintet honored by FAC

Postseason honors continue to roll in from Frontier Athletic Conference commissioner Terri Tutt.

In FAC boys soccer, five local players, four from Miami Trace and one from Washington, have been accorded First Team, All-FAC honors.

From Miami Trace, the honorees are: Drew Batson, Justin Shoemaker, Caleb Perry and August Langley and, from Washington High, Blaise Tayese.

Matthew Detty of Chillicothe was named the FAC soccer Player of the Year.

Also for the Cavs, Alec Beavers and Michael Herlihy were named First Team, All-FAC.

Quinn Conlin and Andrew Gunderman from Hillsboro, Evan Hutchison and Griffon Foltz of McClain and Garrett Ghearing and Collin Ghearing of Jackson complete the All-FAC team.

Chillicothe repeated as FAC champions in 2018 with a record of 10-0.

Jackson placed second in the conference at 7-2-1 and Miami Trace was third with a mark of 5-3-2.

Hillsboro placed fourth at 3-6-1, followed by McClain at 3-7 and Washington at 0-10.

The Cavaliers team and the First Team, All-FAC honorees will be recognized at the conference’s fall sports banquet on Nov. 15.
