Miami Trace girls golf qualifies to District

The Miami Trace girls golf team competed in the Division I Sectional tournament at Pickaway Golf Course Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 in Circleville.

Miami Trace placed third in the tournament to qualify to the District tournament Tuesday, Oct. 9 at EagleSticks Golf Club in Zanesville.

In the Sectional, Miami Trace had a team score of 461.

Logan won the Sectional title with a 417. Sheridan was second with a team score of 431.

Libby Aleshire led Miami Trace with a 97.

Alyssa Butler shot a 107, Meri Grace Carson had a 121, Regan Hagler, 136 and Makayla Barnes, 141.

Athens was fourth with a 477. Marietta placed fifth with a 478 and Jackson was sixth with a 546.

The Division I Sectional champion was Hillsboro’s Kristin Jamieson with a 73. Jamieson defeated the nearest competitor, Logan Lexis Fickel, by seven strokes.

On Oct. 9, Miami Trace competed in the District tournament, placing sixth with a 449 team score.

New Philadelphia won the District with a 327. The win advanced the Quakers to the State tournament.

Alyssa Butler led Miami Trace with a 110.

Meri Grace Carson shot a 111, Libby Aleshire had a score of 113, Regan Hagler shot a 115 and Makayla Barnes had a 128.

Carrollton was second at the District with a 381.

Logan was third with a 383, Sheridan was fourth with a 395 and Tri-Valley placed fifth with a 414.

Kristin Jamieson won the Division I District championship with a 65. There was no one even close to Jamieson at the District.

The closest competitor was Chloe Crone of Dover who shot a 74.

The girls Division I State golf championship is Friday and Saturday at The Ohio State University’s Gray Course in Columbus.
