Jackson edges MT girls soccer, 3-2

JACKSON — The Miami Trace girls varsity soccer team lost a 3-2 decision at Jackson in a Frontier Athletic Conference match Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Jackson scored first with 16:27 to go in the first half.

Miami Trace answered with 13:42 left in the half with a goal from Emily Powell assisted by Magarah Bloom.

The match was tied 1-1 at the half.

Jackson scored again at the 18:22 mark.

Miami Trace tied it back up with 7:27 to go with a goal by Tori Evans.

Jackson scored with 4:02 to go to take the lead. Khenadi Grubb had five saves in the goal for Miami Trace.

“It was a very physical game but we held our own and played hard,” Miami Trace head coach Caitlin Francis said. “We out-shot Jackson 12 to 8 but it was unlucky we couldn’t seem to find the back of the net a couple more times.”

Miami Trace is now 8-4-2 overall and 5-3-1 in the league.

The Lady Panthers host Washington Thursday at 5 p.m.

FAC scores

In other FAC girls soccer Tuesday, McClain beat Washington, 9-0 and Chillicothe defeated Hillsboro, 3-1.

In FAC boys soccer Tuesday, McClain beat Washington, 9-1; Miami Trace tied Jackson, 1-1 and Chillicothe defeated Hillsboro, 12-1.

In FAC volleyball Tuesday, Washington beat McClain, 25-21, 25-19 and 25-13; Jackson topped Miami Trace, 25-12, 25-20 and 26-24 and Chillicothe upended Hillsboro, 25-19, 25-12, 25-12 to win the FAC championship.
