Hughes to lead Franklin Duelers

Tucker Hughes, assistant baseball coach, at Waldorf University, is set to start a new journey as manager of the newly formed Franklin Duelers in the Ohio Valley Collegiate Baseball League.

Hughes, who previously held the role as the manager for the Wellsville Nitros, holds a 37-30 overall record with a championship appearance.

“I am extremely blessed and honored that Mr. Phil Cundall has given me the opportunity to lead his organization,” Hughes said. “Phil explained his vision for the first-year program and I shared mine. We were both on the same page. We held a very late night phone call in which I knew instantly this was where I was suppose to be.”

Hughes explained why he is coaching.

“I coach this game to change lives,” Hughes said. “Not to win or lose games. My philosophy as a coach is to teach the game of baseball through life lessons. My plan is to surround the town of Franklin with elite people. With elite people comes elite success. I am looking forward to this part of my life.”

The Franklin Duelers kicked off their inaugural season this June in Franklin, Kentucky.
