After a very heavy rain fell at the fair Saturday afternoon, July 21, it made for an extremely muddy, but still very entertaining evening at the grandstand with the demo derby.
A large crowd turned out to watch the action, from lawn mowers all the way up to full-size autos.
The final class of the evening, the large-sized cars, was a titanic struggle that lasted for about an hour and a half.
In the lawn mower class, there were 17 entrants.
Nick Hampshife of Logan was the winner.
Dustin Toppins of Washington C.H. was second and Steven Keene of Woodstock, Ohio (Champaign County).
There were 15 individuals in the Street Stock Mini class.
Matt Reed of Xenia was the winner of that class.
Derrick Zeckser of Port William was second and Logan Theener of Hillsboro took third.
In the Smash-It Compact Class, there were seven competitors.
Danny Mullins of Wellston won this event.
Ernie Stone of London was second and Jordan Cox of Wellston placed third.
The Street Stock Class, the final of the evening, drew 20 entrants, including from Washington C.H., Bloomingburg, New Vienna, Wilmington, Sabina, Leesburg, Clarksville, New Holland and Greenfield.
Tony Penwell of Washington C.H. was the winner.
Jordan Pryor of Sabina placed second and Mike Badgley of Washington C.H. was third.
