On Friday, Oct. 2, Fred DiDomenico was presented the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Award given by the OHSAA in coordination with the local school district.

The award is given to someone who has given of their time, energy and resources to better the lives of student athletes and the community in which they live.

As a former football coach, teacher and school board member, Fred did all of those things and continued his commitment even after he left the teaching and coaching profession.

He led three committees to help improve the facilities at Gardner Park and is the reason it is the great stadium it is today.

For his life-long commitment to the student-athletes, school system and community it was with great pleasure that we could honor him with this award, Jon Creamer, Washington High School Athletic Director said.
